He Sacrificed Everything For Our Redemption

Any time you follow after something, it requires you to have to leave something.
— Pastor Cory Burchard

I think about the disciples, how they just left everything to follow Jesus, right away. I don’t know their backstories, but I know it must have been a risk. They didn’t know yet what we know. They didn’t yet know that He would be the Savior of the entire world, that His love for them would be better than any other thing.

But we know.

We know that He can be trusted. We know that even when we are unfaithful, He is faithful. We know that He sacrificed everything for our redemption.

And yet we can still be nervous about the cost. Sometimes it’s a lot. Sometimes it’s alienation, or loss of control, or letting go of things we love. But let me tell you, even from my limited experience — Jesus is always worth our everything. Not only is He truly worthy by His nature, but He is also so good to us. The blessing of following Jesus might not be the safety and security we think we want, but the eternal life and the promise of freedom and light and daily redemption and intimacy with the Creator God? Worth everything and then some.

He is worth our discomfort.
He is worth our time.
He is worth our energy.
He gives back in dividends. And even if He didn’t, what He has already given us is more than enough.
