What do you do, when you don't know what to do?
The name of Jesus carries with it a power and a presence that go beyond what we can understand. We've heard it, we sing songs about it, yet I wonder what our lives would look like if we really believed it. His name is the One above all other names, the One that conquered death and the grave. If we knew that praying it and speaking it over our marriages, over our children, over our jobs, and over our neighborhoods could change everything, wouldn’t we do it with desperation? Wouldn’t we pray over our own actions and our words before we began the day?
If the name of Jesus brings life where there was once death, light where there is darkness, then by all means, in every situation and circumstance, let us speak it. I know that my own power is so very limited. I know just how much control I have because I have tried to exert it many times and failed or gotten exhausted and discouraged. I can’t change the hearts of others on my own. Gracious, I can’t change my own heart alone. Yet the name of Jesus reminds the darkness that it must flee. The name of Jesus reminds the brokenness that there is a Healer. It reminds that which was lost that it is found and seen and redeemed.
So don’t allow the lie that says it’s foolish to attempt to speak Jesus over a situation, over a person, over a prayer. Don’t overlook it or dismiss it. Grab tightly to the right He gave us to use it, the right He died for you to have. When you don’t know what to do, speak it, pray it, remind the enemy Whose you are. And take heart, for He has overcome the world.
Call to Action:
Make it simple, but speak or pray the name of Jesus over one thing today, trusting the power that He has over what you don’t understand.
